Awori is a short film that focuses on dreams and hopes dashed by the harsh realities of the Nigerian states. Inspired by a personal story where four friends who reside in rural Lagos, particularly Bene, a young footballer who had just been signed by a club, died in a pipeline explosion on the 26th December 2006 while scooping oil to sell in the black market due to the bad economic situation. This nightmare claimed the lives of hundreds of people just one day after Christmas after fuel pump price had just been increased by the Nigerian Government and when this happens in the country, every other commodities becomes expensive making life difficult for the poor.
